Rackmount KVM

I designed this unit as the final project to my 2025 summer internship at Milcots. The goal of the project was to research other competing KVM (Keyboard, video, and mouse) units and create a Milcots version. Aside from the requirements I was given for the LCD, power supply, and LCD controller, the design was entirely up to me, with some guidance from one of the mechanical engineers.

The design includes a sheet metal mounting solution for the keyboard, a piston hinging mechanism, a bezel and backplate to house the LCD, an LCD and PCAP bonding, a CPU box with all necessary electrical components, and all hardware for connecting these components. This was a fairly self-directed project, requiring me to devise the hinging/opening mechanism, find all required hardware using McMaster, and realistically mate and connect all components using screws, PEMs, and nuts. Cable management was also an important part of creating the design to ensure that all connectors and wiring would fit desirably within the design.
